法国象征意义诗人，小说家，藏书家皮埃尔·路易斯（台译皮埃·路易，Pierre Louÿs，1870—1925）死后公开发行的三部作品之一，也是路易斯两部长篇小说之一。迄今为止本书仍然是唯一的英文版。
克拉拉·泰斯（Clara Tice,1888-1973）：美国前卫插画家和艺术家，她的大部分时间都在美国纽约市度过。生平公开露面挑衅传统艺术，被视为波西米亚格林威治村的代表，素有“（传统艺术）挑衅女王”之称。
本书铜版画插图为泰斯早年最著名代表作，10幅铜版画中，泰斯运用了金银箔、粉彩、水印等多种复杂工艺，成品叹为观止，公认“精美插图”（Beautifully illustrated）。
顺便普及基本常识，毛边本价格大概是普通本的10倍，如果毛边未裁，则相比毛边已裁本又要翻倍。当然价格和作者知名度以及书籍畅销量密不可分，作者越有名，书籍越畅销，毛边本价格越高。

Pages are unmarked by previous owners. A few scattered text pages have very light soiling in margins. Light wear to cloth at spine ends and corners. Binding is square and tight. Boards are clean, though rubbed at edges, spine ends and corners. Text block is lightly soiled. Tope edge gilt.Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked.
Clara Tice (22 May 1888 – 2 February 1973) was an American avant-garde illustrator and artist, who spent most of her life in New York City, United States. Because of her provocative art and public appearances, she was seen as representative of bohemian Greenwich Village and thus known as “The Queen of Greenwich Village.”
