Limited Edition. Privately printed in a strictly Limited Edition for members of the Society of Sophisticates. Beautifully illustrated. The only English version of this excellent French novel.
Pages are unmarked by previous owners. A few scattered text pages have very light soiling in margins. Light wear to cloth at spine ends and corners. Binding is square and tight. Boards are clean, though rubbed at edges, spine ends and corners. Text block is lightly soiled. Tope edge gilt.Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked.
Clara Tice (22 May 1888 – 2 February 1973) was an American avant-garde illustrator and artist, who spent most of her life in New York City, United States. Because of her provocative art and public appearances, she was seen as representative of bohemian Greenwich Village and thus known as “The Queen of Greenwich Village.”
