小柄ながら全く怖くない、可愛い子蛇だ。自然紐通しのデザインも評価に堪える。日本において蛇の意匠は縄文の土器にすでに現れ、世界的にみても蛇は、天地の創生にまつわる存在として登場。
古山（こさん）は江戸時代後期の根付細工師。木地に薄肉彫式で雲龍、草花、風景図を彫る。上田令吉氏「根付の研究」三五四記：「木刻及牙刻をなす、中期近代の人なり」。

Good condition
The Japanese ivory netsuke depicting a coiled snake squeezing between the coils. Powerful and of great quality with very fine details. The snake with open jaws and the tongue out make this netsuke a work of great effect and that strikes us immediately.
