説明
軒丸（のきまる）：軒瓦（のきがわら）の一種、別名「鐙瓦」（あぶみがわら）、花瓦、端丸瓦。巴文が描かれることが多いので巴瓦（ともえがわら）とも通称される。軒部分に屋根の縁端を飾るため、丸瓦の端に瓦当と呼ばれる円形の飾板をつけたもの。お寺などの大きな建物に使われることが多く、粒入万十ともいえる。
中国戦国時代に半円形の瓦当のある軒丸瓦が出現し、漢代から円形瓦当のものが現れた。漢代の軒丸瓦は文字や蕨手文、動物文で飾られたが，南北朝時代から蓮華文装飾が出現し、その影響は朝鮮半島にも波及した。
日本では飛鳥時代に百済系、高句麗系の単弁蓮華文装飾が現れ、奈良前期から複弁蓮華文のものが使用された。鎌倉時代以降には巴文を瓦当に飾るものが主流を占めるようになった。
根附の研究P148：友忠（ともただ）、和泉屋七右衛門と称し、天明（1781年）前の人にして京都に住す。木又は象牙を以て牛を彫るに妙を得、友忠の牛と称せられ。当時既に偽品多かりき、彫法緻密にして活気あり、一見して真偽を判別する事を得と伝へられる（彫銘友忠）。
装劍奇賞巻七：友忠（ともただ）、京師人。和泉屋七有衛門と称す、牛を彫事妙に詣れり、関東にて特に賞玩す、故偽造の多き事、百をもってかぞふべし、其物ハ格別手際なり。
