説明
正守は上田令吉「根付の研究」P210「牙刻をなす、中期の人なり」と記載された天明―寛政頃に京都で活躍していた根付師だった。その時天災、飢饉、打壊しが相次ぎ、民衆に対する弾圧も厳しく極めて憂鬱な時代だった。正守は大虎の根付に心を込めて、社会不安を一掃する英雄を待望し、天下布武を唱えた信長に憧れるだろう。

Masamori is Very faithful to old netsuke tradition in feeling. Great attention to detail; original, amusing designs. subjects taken from Japanese and Chinese life—tranquil, quiet figures or animals. Delicate, detailed composition; skillful and beautiful use of color. Look this carved ivory netsuke is in the form of a tiger with inlaid eyes.
Long considered a top-ranking carver and was still alert and carving in his last years. But he still finds time to produce beautiful calligraphy. Also talented as painter and musician.
