值此龙年之际，呈上一件贵重且罕见的中国人雕刻的根付，真正难得一见。圆雕的日式云龙已然凤毛麟角，形雕的中国龙前所未见。根付罕见题材诸多，最罕见的毫无争议性的是龙，干支题材亦然。此件无论雕工、神态、寓意、包浆，实在没有解说的必要。
盘龙呈回首咆哮姿势，神情凶猛，龙体威严。腾云驾雾，升天入水的形态惟妙惟肖。龙图腾最早见史记司马相如列传，所谓“海中瑞兽，蛟龙赤螭”。说文解字释龙：“鳞虫之长。能幽能明。能细能巨。能短能长。春分而登天。秋分而潜渊”。
淮南子曰；“夫蛟龙伏潜于川。而卵剖于陵。其雄鸣上风。其雌鸣下风而化者。形精之至也。人不见龙之飞举而能高者。风雨奉之也”。
龙在中华文明中是变幻莫测的动物。能巨，能细，能短、又能长；能为上，能为下，又无一定栖息之处。春秋腾登上天，夏冬潜伏于渊，凝化万千，变幻莫测。

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Large before 18th century, Ivory Netsuke depicting a coiled Dragon, this Kyoto school style Netsuke has been finely carved from a wedge shaped slice of Ivory.
Coiled dragon is shown with a fierce expression, Very rare and large and powerful figures of dragon.
The Dragon is intertwined amidst swirling clouds, This is high quality carving where hundreds of years of handling have left a beautiful mellow patination , I am sure fantastic addition to your Japanese Netsuke or works of art collection.
